The group’s work fell into four areas:
Cloud Platforms
Building and evaluating open-source tools for deploying private and hybrid clouds. OpenNebula was the primary output.
Grid Middleware
Scheduling and resource brokering across federated grid sites. GridWay and related DRMAA-compliant tools were developed here.
Virtualization
Investigating how cloud orchestrators interface with hypervisors. The TinOva project contributed driver code to OpenNebula and engaged with the libvirt community.
Distributed Systems
Broader work on fault tolerance, scalability patterns, and resource management in large-scale computing environments.
